The Prejudice Of South Florida Haitian Filmmakers Is Costing Them Money

We have been told that Haitian filmmakers in South Florida are not taking advantage of the amazing movie theater that is now available for them in Little Haiti in Miami and, because of that, they are loosing a lot of money.

If the reason is what we think it is, you will be shocked!

I was surprised to find out how little it costs to use the little Haiti theater for a movie premiere.

Recently, while attending a Haitian movie event in Little Haiti, I asked one of the filmmakers who was there "why are you guys not using this place, " and he replied:

"Most Haitians outside of Little Haiti don't want to come here."

Wow... Seriously?

I think the question we should be asking is:

How do we get more Haitians outside of Little Haiti do "come here" and save money at the same time?

Think about it for a minute...

Most of the time, when there is a Haitian premiere, 90% of the people at the premiere are actors, filmmakers, and invited guests. That means no money is being made.

Considering that, for a movie premiere, you have to rent a location, rent a movie projector, sometimes you have to rent a sound system, and these are your biggest expenses, I just want you to know that all these are things are already at your disposal at the Little Haiti Movie Theater and they cost a lot less than you might think.

Little Haiti is the "Downtown Port-au-Prince" of South Florida. Once we begin to show the people on the outside the beautiful side of it, they will come.

Think about it... Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States, when he is in town, he meets with community leaders in Little Haiti.

Are we so important that we can't all come home for a little house party?

Hmmmm?

Be smart... Save your money...
