New Haitian Movie Starring a Famous African Movie Star
At this time we cannot release any information about this movie except to say that Belfim has been contacted by "Lionel Beeper" and he wants to promote the movie on Belfim.
Of course he received the same welcome as everyone:
"If there is a Haitian person in it, We will promote it" This is the Belfim promise.
From Nollywood to Bellywood.
The Nigerian and African movie market is known as Nollywood. for a while Nollywood, it seems, has been affecting Bellywood, the Haitian movie market. African movies, at least, has been the scapegoat for the reason why Haitian movies are not selling as much as they should.
While Haitian consumers still go to Blockbuster, Netflix, even they local Wal-Mart to consume main stream Hollywood films, African movies are the only type of movies that seems to take the blame for that decline in sales.
Bagay sa-a pral fe pale ampil, li fe pale ampil deja but all I can say is:
"Brace Yourself... The Africans Are Coming!"
Haitians are a bit resistant to change but in the long run they seem to adapt just fine. I do recall when I was a kid, there was a big issue in the Haitian music industry when all of a sudden KASAV, with their ZOUK beat from Martinique, took over the airwaves in Haiti.
Everyone panicked, I was a kid I don't know all the details but I did live to see what came out if it.
In my lifetime, I've listened to live albums of Tabou Combo playing live with Kasav on stage. Nowadays, Roberto Martino from Haitian music group T-Vice is singing a Duo with Jocelyne Labille.
A Happy Ending....
What's in store for the Bellywood/Nollywood merger?
Only time will tell.
I am Woodring Saint Preux and I said it.
