Luke Renner is opening a film school in Haiti
I like everything about the article except the first paragraph!
It sucks!
Here is a clip from the article:
Renner, who has a degree in broadcasting productions from Anderson University, is moving Tuesday with his family in a missionary camp in Cap Haitien, Haiti.
Renner has been to Haiti over 30 times on mission trips and felt called to lend his skills to those most in need of them.
"The plan is to be there as long as it takes," he said. "It could even be permanent. For us it's not a trip, it's a relocation."
Renner wants to teach a select few Haitians to shoot video, take pictures, and record audio and sound. He believes that these are valuable talents in the increasingly technological global arena.
"All of these skills will help them to tell their own stories to the rest of the world," Renner said.
Unlike most missionary ministries that focus on traditional means of aid like providing food and clothing, Renner's idea will teach locals a skill needed throughout the country.
"The primary direction is to use mass communication as a tool of mass education," he said. "Haiti needs its talented people to stay there if it's going to rise above its poverty."
