Jacmel Film Festival 2008 Postponed!

Due to Haiti's on going political crisis and the larger world's financial crisis, the 4th Edition of Festival Film Jakmèl for November 2008 has proven impossible to fund properly and therefore will be postponed.

We apologize for the disappointment this causes.

While the Festival attracted strong international programming support and encouraging sponsorship pledges from a number of Haitian companies and many individuals, it failed to gain the adequate support from other key players, including foreign governments and local government ministries. With only a few weeks remaining until the November edition, Festival Film Jakmèl lacks the resources needed to properly produce a major international festival.

We are deeply disappointed, of course, but are compensated by the fact that Foundation Festival Film Jakmèl (FFFJ) has been successful in developing and funding its first year round educational programs, thereby remaining busy and actively engaged in the local community.

We are, indeed, very excited by our new long-term endeavors, Sine Lekòl, Films to Schools, and actively planning the production of the La Kay Awards.
