Pluie D'espoir is a movie based on the story of a young peasant named Toussaint from the Haitian Provinces.

He has come to Port-au-Prince not only to survive, but also to strive with dignity and achieve a place for himself, his family and the coworkers he left behind.

On the road to his destiny, he encounters many obstacles He learns about city life, modern inventions and technology.

He develops relationships that bring joy and pain to his life Pluie D'espoir is a picturesque tale that will capture your heart and move you beyond words.

French synopsys : Pluie d'espoir de Jacques Roc est un film basé sur l'histoire d'un jeune paysan appelé Toussaint. Son instinct pour la: survie est fort. If est venu au Port-au-Prince non seulement pour survivre, mais également pour tra­vailler avec dignité et pour se faire une place au soleil. II va rencontrer bien des obstacles mais son destin va croi­ser ceux d'une femme, Farah, et d'un riche entrepreneur qui vont changer sa vie. Il se renseigne sur la vie en ville, des inventions modernes et la technologie. II développe des rapports qui lui apportent joie et douleur.

Le tournage de Pluie d'Espoir a duré près de 8 mois étalés sur deux ans. Plus de 100 acteurs et 150 scè­nes. Le film est produit par Renais­sance Film, une maison de production à New York et a été tourné un peu partout. En province, à Jacmel, sur la route de Malpasse, à Port-au-Prince et à Pétion-Ville.

Pluie d'espoir est tirée d'une his­toire vraie et vise à rendre hommage à la paysannerie haïtienne et la détermi­nation de l'Haïtien.

The Cast

The cast of Pluie d'Espoir is made up of experienced actors, having played major roles in theater productions or in previous Haitian movies. The exception is Junior Mettelus (Toussaint).

Junior Metellus (Toussaint) - The director wanted an unknown actor so that the audience could not associate the actor to another role, thus making the character Toussaint more believable. Junior Mettelus has appeared on billboard and magazine ads for Comcell. He is a Personal Trainer at Gold's Gym in Petionville.

SANDRA RABRUN (Clarice) - Sandra is well known in Haiti as a talk show host. She has appeared in a play with Haitian Playwright/Producer Sito Cave. Playing Clarice is her first appearance in a movie.

Claudine Oriol (Farah) - Claudine is a professional actor who has studied in the United States .

Jon Christian Sajous (Philippe) - Known as Jeancky, he is well-acclaimed as a Haitian painter. His artwork has been exhibited and sold in the U.S. and abroad. Jeancky has appeared in the TV commercial "Unicarte: No Problem", produced by Jacques Roc. He is the voice in several TV and radio spots done for various companies in Haiti .

Jessie Assalie (Farah's Mom) - Jessie is a stage actress.

Lionel Benjamin (Gesne) - Multi-talented, Lionel is a recording artist, singer, composer, musician, and veteran actor. He has played in many Haitian movies and several TV commercials produced by Jacques Roc. Lionel has also written a song for a scene in Pluie D'espoir.

Reginald Lubin (Dr. Laurenceau) - Reginal is a medical doctor who has also a deep love for the arts. He is the Writer/Producer of "La Peur D'aimer" and played a lead role in that movie.

Maurice Prosper ( Gera ) - Maurice has appeared in a few Haitian movies. He is currently the Mayor of Petionville.

Franky Fontin (Ti Michel age 12) - Franky is known by all in Haiti as "Ti Pinaise" for his Carnival 2003 hit song "Kale Dadaw Janw Vle". Ti Pinaise has done numerous radio commercials and a music video.

RAYMOND Damier (Jean-Pierre) - Raymond has studied acting. This is his first movie role.

Ginou Mondésir (Claudine) - The late Ginou was an actress and host of a cultural television show for Telemax.

Marc St. Jean (Mak) - Mak appeared in a TV commercial produced by Jacques Roc in Haiti . This is his first movie role.
