Michigan is on the verge of going Hollywood.
If you are Haitian and you dream of becoming a Hollywood movie star, Michigan may be your next destination instead of Hollywood California.
Back April, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm signed the Michigan Film Incentives bill as a law. What does that mean for Hollywood filmmakers?
A whopping forty-two percent tax credit across the board for every dime spent in Michigan to make the movie. This is considered one of the most generous film tax incentives in America.
Part of the deal to qualify for this tax incentive it to hire Michigan residents as crewmembers for the movie.
I have a feeling, the next time you want to see Denzel Washington, you may have to go to Michigan!
I know some Haitians who live in Michigan and I know and they are dealing with the great Michigan recession and the increase in unemployment there. I certainly hope that this new Michigan Film Incentives benefit some of them.
