There have been quite a few movies made about famous Haitians starring big Hollywood superstars.

Dennis Hopper one of the stars of the movie Basquiat, a movie about Haitian graffiti artist Jean Michel Basquiat played by Jeffrey Wright.

The New York Times says that Jean Michel Basquiat is the art world's closest equivalent to James Dean.
