It's simple.

You have to accept that Toussaint L'ouverture has started it all and freed the slaves.

He is the father who has conceived our freedom.

He is the one who has given the slaves the taste of freedom.

That freedom alone led the former slaves to continue the fight to remain free. It was their responsibilities to continue to fight to keep that freedom alive.

Toussaint L'ouverture indeed the one who freed us. There should not be any arguments about that.
