God I am so sorry, I am usually not as demeaning but you are very ignorant and it is scary because you think what you think is right but so mis-educated

First off, what does your reply have to do with this topic?

How do we go about speaking on why Vodoo is in movies referencing Haiti to we only show what's bad about us?

Who told you vodoo was something to be ashamed of or something bad about us?

Dont you understand that way of thinking is actually more harmful to the country?

How do you deny something that practically the entire nation practices, believe in or celebrates?

If you are trying to sell to your unknowing Americans that vodoo doesn't exist in Haiti then you are more disconnected and known less about the country then they do

Second, you sound like one of those Haitians in serious denial...

when someone refers to Haiti being poor, I 100 percent agree with them and educate them on what we young Haitians in the diaspora are doing about it and I also let them know the reasons the country got to the point it is now...

once educated, they gain and understanding on how their way of life can effect their neighbors and they also get the education on how our histories crossed many times (not just in Savannah Georgia).

When you sit there trying to sell Haiti as a place of natural beauty all you are doing is keeping people in the dark and yourself in denial...

truth be it, you can find corners of Haiti which are passable but the majority of the country is vastly underdeveloped, in very bad shape...

Haiti is one flood away every day from a natural disaster because the forest is virtually gone.

Power, medical, education, infrastructure all of these industries are decades behind the modern world...

Yes proudly speak of Haiti but when you do, make sure you are telling people the truth, make sure most of all you are telling yourself the truth.

By lying to yourself and reaching for the few things you can brag about all you are doing is hurting your chances of acting upon what is really bad. Vodoo is not bad, it is the ignorance of the Haitian people and the mentality of our people that is bad...

we need to change the way the people think, not the cultures in which we are made from...

you speak of our ancestors I am sure when you brag about Haiti but do you acknowledge at least to yourself without their devotion to vodoo they would not have committed the acts that make them great men and women today.

Do not denounce something simply because the world stigmatize it, instead do like I do and find out the truth behind it, its rights and its wrongs, what it has done for us and meant to us and then you will understand as I do the world is full of hypocrites who want to find reasons to keep Haiti non productive and destroy our hopes.

The same people that keep the fire of stigma under vodoo are the same ones going around the world enslaving people into their religions and also the same ones embracing vodoo in other nations and prettying it up by giving it different names.

They do not have a problem with your vodoo, they have a problem with you. If all of Haiti turned to Christianity and denounced vodoo, they will find a problem with the way Haitians practice Christianity and stigmatize that.

You would then get labeled with Haitian Christianity.

That is just how it is, so instead of running from it and considering it bad without knowing what you are talking about, stop talking and pick up books and find out every side of the story then you will be a proud 100 percent Haitian and can really brag about it.
