Festi Cine Jakmel, a new idea in the horizon
This news just been posted on our message board. It was posted by Fritz G. Barthelemy, the producer of Jen Manmam.
Read all about it here: Festicine Jakmel
It was posted in Kreyol so here is the English version in brief:
FestiCine Jakmel is a new project based on a contract signed between KATU PRODUCTIONS and COMPLEX CULTUREL CONCORDE.
FestiCine Jakmel will take place in Jacmel Haiti from December 1 2008 to January 1 2009
I have a question:
Is this different from the Jakmel Film Festival, can the city of Jacmel handle two film festivals, or is this an initiative from a group of people who think they can do better instead of teaming up to build something larger than life?
Why do I dare say something like that?
The Sundance Film Festival began in Salt Lake City Utah in 1978 as the Utah / US Film Festival in an effort to attract more filmmakers to Utah.
Eventually, in 1985, Management of the festival was taken over by the Sundance Institute, a non-profit organization.
It would be nice if there was one destination, once a year, for years to come, where Haitian actors, and filmmakers, and fans can go to and chit chat!
Haiti's Cinema version of Saut D'eau or Champs de Mars!
Hmmmm!
