Doctane Moussignac Biography

His name... Doctane Moussignac. Straight from Haiti to the United States, Doctane is sure to be a face and name to know and love.

Residing in the Bronx, Doc is the CEO and co-founder of the upcoming movement he named appropriately DARKFAME.

The meaning... you will soon know by heart. Before we get into that, lets see what Doc is all about.

He came to the United States with his father and his sister to meet his mother, who had previously arrived, to escape the violence that the militant rebel group was causing the people of Haiti at the time.

His mother took up work as a housekeeper, while his father, who was a successful salesman in their country, now was selling newspapers to provide for Doctane and his sister.

When Doc started school, he could only speak his native language of Creole, but was able to quickly learn English and began to feel more comfortable in this new place that he was supposed to call home now.

Growing up in 'da Bronx, it was inevitable that Doc would become introduced to Hip-Hop.

He recalls the sound of a junior high classmate banging a beat on his table and rhyming. LL Cool J, the incredible and unforgettable Rakim, the knowledge from KRSONE, and Cool G Rap are just a few of the artists that helped influence his interest, and now PASSION, for hip-hop. (laid-back style**)

Rhymes from the heart came next, which began in 9th grade and by that time an artist had been born. He formed his first group in about 1993 called "Inner City Madness" and they lasted until about 1997.

They performed at talent shows and spent a great deal of time in the studio. They also had the opportunity to perform at the Apollo and also won a 1st prize award in many of the contest that they were in.

Unfortunately, the group as a whole could not be signed.

Doctane turned down many offers to sign with record companies without the group, but he declined showing the humility and compassion of a true leader.

As time passed and the group grew older, the members began to move in different directions and eventually split. This did not stop Doc but gave him more drive, so he teamed up with other friends to form HEAT.

Fred Waldo was the manager of the group and the also began to go back in the studio to lay down more demos with little success.

HEAT evolved into HEAT Entertainment with the help of Nomadic, a friend, co-worker, and now business partner.

They began to manage different up and coming artist, but still made sure they performed at every chance they could just looking for more exposure.

You may have peeped him `back in the day' at lounges like Groove Bar, Spiral Lounge, and the Underground.

More time passed with no more luck, so Doctane decided that he showed stop performing and eat, sleep, breath, and shit hip-hop in order to perfect is style and then come back with more FIRE.

It was not long before he met up with Mike Thompson, whose roots in the game run deep, and also Paul, a producer who needed a home.

Doctane decided to form a team with them, but this time he was ready and had people on his side who had the same FIRE & PASSION & RAW TALENT that is need to be a success in the Hip-Hop game.

Together with Stephen Kotiza they formed DARKFAME and have been creatively bringing out hat same PASSION in the hearts and minds of many. And the rest is history in the making....
