DISTRIBUTORS WE NEED YOU TO JUMP IN.

I went to FL this weekend and I was talking to my DP about the discussion we've been having here at Belfim.

He confirms to me that the distributors are paying $5000 for a movie.

Not a trailer, not a movie poster but a feature length film. Woodring mention that Haitian filmmakers were selling their movies for $5000 but I thought that was a figure of speech.

I did not think he meant that, and people were really selling their movies for $5000.

I mentioned it in a previous comment but as a figure of speech.

I was driving when I heard that and I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry, but it shocked me.

Why would any filmmakers sell a finish product for $5000?

He mentioned there's a filmmaker that makes 4 movies a year and sold each for $5000.

A total of $20000 a year for making 4 movies, how sad. How about spending that amount in only 3 days in a production that lasted 25 days, due the math. When selling a movie for that amount how much money does one spent on making it?

They probably spent nothing.

No wonder why some of our actors are not getting paid.

Filmmakers, stop making quick movies for quick buck. Somebody mentioned earlier that the distributors are the problem for this industry.

I agree to an extent, I also believe that some of the distributors are victims just like filmmakers.

Distributors, please stop buying junks from filmmakers, and you also need to stop stealing movies from filmmakers for $5000.

I would like to hear from the distributors, let us know the obstacles you are facing and how we can change things.

Have you ever wonder why we are not hearing from some of the other filmmakers?

I'm feeling that they think they might be the problem or maybe they don't want to change the industry because it works for them. If you are not the status quo, make your voice be heard, otherwise you might be contributing to the problem.

My last point will offend some people and that's ok because the truth sometimes hurt and we want to change things a little bit. Have you ever seen a filmmaker who makes 2,3,4,or 5 movies and there's no difference in quality, no improvement for movie number 2, 3, 4, or 5. My brothers and sisters you learn a lesson from everything you do in life. When you make your first movie you heard the criticism and the good things about the movie.

When you make your second you should not repeat the same mistakes you made in the previous project.

Color correction, lighting, acting, audio, quality of the picture, ect each and every area should be improved.

Stop using the same camera you use 4 years ago, upgrade your equipments.

Don't use flashlight as lighting (lol) It's time to collaborate your ideas with others.

The myth is you think you know it all, but you don't. There are so much I need to learn, anybody who can teach me a little I'm willing to listen.

We all should have that kind of attitude.

I love you even when we disagree.
