As one who is partially involved with the movie "Inedit" via the soundtrack,
"The Key To Paradise", I'd like to say that I agree with several points made by "G9conceptla".

I think "G9" has a much better understanding of what is involved in movie productions than Ms. Toussaint does. It is indeed all about what the director of the movie deems necessary to tell the story in said movie.

(We could discuss this point for days!).

Why is it that we Haitians tend to box our talents into this "pwodui lakay" mentality that "G9" also mentions?

This mindset has not gotten us very far when it comes to our art (i.e. music, dance, paintings, etc.).

There are very few (if any) multi-million sales deriving from anything sung in Kreyol that I'm aware of.

My second question is: "What about the use of Kreyol, French, Portuguese, Spanish and many more non-English songs in American movies, is that appropriate?" The "Big Deal", however, and the positive outcome to using an English song in a Haitian movie is that such use would hopefully broaden the much needed avenues for all Haitians artistically, socially and perhaps even politically.

I do disagree with "G9" on the final point that no Haitian songs can be used to represent a scene.

That was my 2 cents worth.
