yes, there's a big difference between shooting on film and shooting on video, but there's no difference between "films" and "movies".

your comparison is based on the traditional definition of film as a format but film also define the 7th art since it is the english extension of the french word film. ex: le film ou le recit de la vie. and movie does define both also as a corruption of the concept motion picture (images en mouvement).
