I totallllllllllly agree with you Louise.

Voodoo is part of our culture, but at the same times there are plenty of good things to show and to tell...

That's why it's always a pleasure for me to speak to my American friends about Haïti, let them know we are people too, and we are not stupid, not to mention that I always remind them that we fought in Savannah to help them get their independence.

(Story that most of you forget, and story that they don't know about).

Not too long ago, a teacher from a public school told me this:" Oh! so you are Haïtian?" And I replied: "100%", then she goes:" I heard that Haïti is a very poor country..." My answer was of course it is, but Haiti is not the poorest, and there are millionnaires, billionnaires over there, and we get cars that I have not seen yet in the U.S. (I don't know where they come from).

I started talking about "Dynasty" which part of the show was filmed at a Haiti hotel, bla, bla, bla. Right away, I gave her some haitian sites to visit so she can explore the beauty of my country.

The next day, I brought her a documentary "Haiti, the Land of Magic" and "Wind of Desire" so she can see for herself.

Guess what?

Two days ago, she told me she enjoyed these tapes so much that she took some time to show the documentary to her students.

That's what we all need to do instead of voodooising our souls, and give only bad impressions about us.

One love
