I especially liked this part: Why Mann bothered to call this flick Miami Vice is beyond me, because it could just as plausibly have been named "Murder She Wrote," "Matlock ," or "The Rockford Files."

My personal experiance with Miami vice: I went the the movies to watch miami vice and it was sold out. I was willing to stand in line for the next showing when a lady told me "don't even bother, it's not worth the wait". I took her advice.
