This a profound statement considering the fact that there was no mention of Passenger Laroche in the blockbuster film 'Titanic' starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche was the only black man, a Haitian man, to perish in the Titanic; that's after he saved his wife and kids.

Joseph Laroche was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti. He was the nephew of Haitian president Dessalines M. Cincinnatus Leconte.
