When there is trouble in Haiti, the entertainment industry suffers a great deal. Being involved in the entertainment industry, I can tell you that many filmmakers are affected by what is happening in Haiti.

After a brief conversation with filmmaker Faerey Alexis, I understood completely why he cannot postpone his movie showing. The show must go on.

belfim.com/pictures.php?p=3476&..."Woodring," says the young producer, "with have spent a great deal of money advertising for the movie Perdus. It costs thousands of U.S. dollars to print out the large posters, pay for billboard advertising, and all of the sorts of other promotion. The money has already been spent, we cannot cancel the showing no matter what."

Although Haiti is in a state of chaos, the Haitian society train DOES NOT and CANNOT stop moving. It is a train that is synchronized with TIME itself and does not stop no matter what happens.

For young Haitian actors like Berline Antenor, Mackendy Mickaes, Stephanie Jean, Kimberlly Pierre, Stanley Emmanuel Toussaint, and Roodmy Poulard who star in Perdus, for the young filmmaker Faerey Alexis who directed the movie, for everyone behind the scenes who sacrificed their time in the production, and for everyone who invested they hard earned money to finance the project, the Haitian society train DOES NOT and CANNOT stop moving.

belfim.com/pictures.php?p=3474&...It is a real shame that the very people they are trying to entertain have created a state of instability and chaos that may end up hurting an industry that is already struggling.

All Haitians have the birth right to stand up for their rights but no Haitian has the right to stop the Haitian society train. There are legal and social ways to stand up for your rights but when you step on another Haitian's pursuit of happiness, you are breaking the law.
