A Haitian TV Series on DVD, Would you buy it?
This is nothing new but can the Haitian consumer get used to it?
If you you go NetFlix.com you will notice that most of the American TV series are compiled into DVD set and rented out.
I am talking about NBC's HEROES, NBC's The Office, HBO's Entourage, and many more
Seriously, Go to Netflix.com, you will see
Let me tell you why I ask you...
There are so many Haitian stories that are untold and putting a movie together, that's about 80 minutes to 2 hours, that that's not enough time to go in depth in to a story, that's not enough to relay messages and spread Haitian values via television
What if The Cosby Show was just a 2 hour movie?
What if Languichatte was just a 2 hour movie?
Do I have your attention?
GOOD!
Now I will ask you the question again:
Would you be willing to watch a Haitian television series on DVD?
I guess what I am asking is... Would you buy it?
For us who live outside of Haiti, it's the only way. For the Haitians who live in Haiti, unfortunately, most of the so called Haitian Television stations are playing foreign films acquired illegally and there is no National content on TV.
It's ridiculous!
I really wish the Haitian government would set up a required quota for all Haitian Television stations to have at least 60 percent of the content be MADE IN HAITI.
At least most of our Actors and filmmakers would have a full time career in their own country instead of... ... Let me stop!...
Politisyen Ayisyen yo di ke Haiti se peyi agrikol... petet se sa ki fe yo pa bay Intellectual property any respect. yo vle pou nou tounnen ale sekle!
Adje mezanmi... Ki kote ou janm we la rivye monte monn
Anyway, were were we?...
What are the advantages of putting Haitian Television Series on DVD?
First, there are no television networks that covers Haitians all over the world.
Second, we are scattered everywhere and the DVD is the the only available medium right now that can bring Haitian video content to your television set.
Third, although we Haitians call everything on DVD "A movie" some of them are actually supposed to be a TV series.
Imagine watching "Languichate Au XXieme Siecle: Season 1" part 1, part 2, and part 3 on DVD.
Wouldn't you love to watch some good Haitian comedy or drama, made in Haiti?
Wouldn't you love to see a Haitian drama series, with young Haitian actors, season after season, and you know for sure that it was taped on location in your Haitian Hometown?
Would you be comfortable knowing that what is on the DVD is NOT a "movie" per say but ONE season of a television series compiled in to 3 DVDs?
Would that interest you?
Would you buy it?
My name is Woodring Saint Preux and I said it.
