Someone please help me to understand!

I am an avid watcher of Haitian Movies.

I have been watching them since the days when they were being filmed with a single camera.

I have to say that I am so proud of how far we, as a people have come. With every new movie I see more improvements--and I believe that this is best exemplified when I am watching a movie from Jean Gardy Bien Aime. However, I do still have one minor complaint, I do not understand why we must continue to feed into the North American hoopla.

I am going to give one minor example from the movie 'Le Miracle de la Foi.' I must first start by saying that it is a wonderful movie.

It is one I would not be embarrassed to show to any of my friends.

But can someone please explain to me why the main male character was named 'Mike.' I know I have been out of Haiti for a while, but has the phonemic of the Kreole and french language changed that much?

Or do we just need to blug in that bit of 'American culture' to soothe our bruised dehumanized souls.

When will we become truly proud of everything Ayitian?

I would have written in Kreole but I have noticed that turns to be a turn off to many Haitians and my french, though good, is not great.
