Obviously it's not fair to use music of an artist if you don't have his ok to do so. The ok might be ''pay the rights'' or reach a ''verbal agreement'' with no money compensation.

In that second case the artist gets in return free advertisement for his music.

There is a third alternative which is create your own music for your movie, few Haitian movie makers do that.

Most of the movies that I've seen feature songs by US artists. I know the producers don't by the rights to those songs...
