Woodring is also part of the problem

Hailiwood - May 3 2008, 2:07 AM

I read the state of the union address by Woodring and I wasn't going to say anything because this website for the most part is filled with people who want to feel good about themselves they think they're famous cause they write a lot of comments about their own movies.

On top of it they act surprised when you don't know who they are. That's when they'll try to explain to you all the good reviews they have gotten on belfim.

For this reason and more I decided that I wasn't going to say anything and then I realize, if I don't say something, who will?

I will only give you all a little bit, so here we go.

Woodring said "As a Haitian filmmaker, you can't just slap up a couple of scenes together and call it a movie.

Haitian consumers will not tolerate it. Why should they?

After all, A Haitian DVD costs the same as any American DVD"

Answer: but if you do slap up a couple of scenes together and you pay woodring a little money he will tell the world that your movie is the best. see Mr Saint preux you also have a responsibility not just the bad filmmakers.

just a though.

Woodring said "Instead aim to be as good an actor as Denzel Washington, As good an actress as Holly Berry, As good a filmmaker as Steven Spielberg, go beyond the "Haitian" wall, go global.

Answer: why can't we create our own Denzel or better yet why can't you help us create our own Holly berry?

why do we always have to go and find some outsider as role model.

Are we not good enough Mr. Saint Preux?

Woodring said
"For Haitian movies to even be mentioned in the same sentence with African movies is a plus for the industry"

Answer:
Mr.Woodring, have you seen some of the african movies?

How do you go from telling us to be like Denzel and Holly Berry to telling us that our movies should look like "Beyonce" (african movie) you should not use Denzel and african movies in the same Union Address at least not in this manner lol

Woodring said:
"Being the "Best Haitian" anything is not good enough"

Answer: that's because you don't value yourself and your fellow Haitians.

The best haitian actor can also be the best actor in the world.

Woodring said "Sometimes being selfish is bad for your pocket.

Why do it just for Haitians when you can do it for the whole wide world?

Answer: belfim.com is for whom?

see sometimes I think we should keep our advice for ourselves or at least apply some of them to our own lives first before we try to get someone else to do it. you know like experiment on ourselves first.

Woodring said his friend said ""A Haitian movie is a Haitian movie, a Nigerian movie is a Nigerian movie, but a movie is a movie.

If it's is only sold on West Dixie Highway, If I cannot rent it at Blockbuster, then it is a Haitian Movie"

Answer:A movie is not defined by where it is sold mr. Woodring.

You can find a copy of the best movie in the world being sold in some ghetto area, it would still remain the best movie in the world.

just a though.

Woodring said "Mezammi...

Kite-m ale tande! I have a wedding to go to....

My mane is Woodring Saint Preux and I said it.

Answer: Mezanmi pa kite-m ale, tande-m: I don't have a wedding to go to, movies are what I do and haitian is who I am. We're are quick to point out mediocre work, but we are the first one to applaud them. Let's stop encouraging people from doing mediocre work in the first place instead of applauding them so we can profit and talk bad about them later.

We are all responsible for the state of the haitian movie industry and for the state of our country.

Let's stop pointing fingers, but instead let's take that finger and start lifting the load off of each other's back.

My name is Hailiwood and I approve this message.

lol oh by the way I said it
