Bootlegging: Cancer for Haitian movie industry!

Junior - December 22 2007, 2:56 PM

Hello Woodring,
I am Junior, a writer director in NYC. I get on your site everyday.

I think it's the greatest resource a Haitian filmmaker has. As you know, bootlegging is the greatest threat facing our industry and everyday I try to come up with ideas to find a way to at least minimize some of the damage of this phenomenon.

I think establishing a box office figures for our movies could be one of the best tools for the film artists and the producers to gage revenues from their products.

It would also improve the quality of our movies by not only bringing in more cash but also by inviting feedback from the public, because some of those terrible movies out there are not selling.

I think of Remo and Gason Makoklen 3, two good movies which are having huge successes in NY, and yet there is no way to gouge how much these movies are raking in, and I'm almost sure that Cassamajor and Estimable are not seeing not even half of the money on these hit movies.

Please answer this email here, and open a discussion on this. I'll keep in touch.

Thank you.
